Leading Transitions: What Should Leaders Be Prioritizing Now?

I had to send you a quick note to say thank you for joining my webinar held on July 8, 2020 on Leading Transitions!

I hope you found it interesting and took away a gem or two that you can use in your business and or personal life. There were so many gems packed into the wonderful one-hour session and so many things to take away, as I sought to facilitate a much-needed conversation on what leaders should be prioritizing now – to ensure not only the survival of their businesses amid the pandemic, but also thriving.

I am grateful to have had prolific business leaders and entrepreneurs, Christopher Reckord and Metry Seaga, joining me for the discussion as they spoke to the shifts they are making in their businesses, what other businesses are doing and offered some forecasts for working in this new reality.

Just in case you had information overload, here are some key takeaways:

Stabilize Your Business Operations

  • Stay aware of the current landscape. Know what’s happening and in what ways is it impacting you.

  • Act calmly and quickly. Reach out to all your stakeholders with assurances of support.

  • Don’t think about solutions as a one-size-fits-all approach. Your solutions must be specific to your business needs.

Envision A New Future

  • Think about what your organization will look like and what this future state will require? In what areas will you need to pivot or shift?  For your team and your business to thrive, you may need to establish new standard operating procedures, update your business model and update or secure new technology.

  • For varying perspectives, keep communication open and pull ideas from your team.

  • Seek out opportunities to develop new skillsets and knowledge within your team.

Practice Empathy

  • Meet people exactly where they are, what they are going through matters  – especially in times like these. Communicate honestly, regularly and in a language that people will understand.

  • Prioritize the wellbeing of yourself and your team! Seek and provide professional support with Psychologists, Counselors and Coaches. At this time, pay more attention to maintaining stability and a sense of comfort, rather than aggressively pursuing profit.

  • Stay visible and accessible

There are so many opportunities emerging from this crisis for life, leadership and business and they are all available for us. Change is necessary, but in order for us to thrive during times of change, we need to be prepared!
