Achieving Success: 5 Simple Strategies for Achieving Your Goals

Success can seem impossible until you understand what’s between you and your success.

Creating strategies to get you there requires you to focus on two areas and practicing getting better at them. The key is developing effective mind and time management skills that work for you.

Here’s the difference between the two:

Achieving Success happens when you close the gap between you and your goals

Mind management is the process of controlling your thoughts and emotions. It's about being aware of what you’re thinking, how you feel and being able to harness those feelings effectively. Your un-managed mind is like a run-away train.

Time management, on the other hand, is about using your time efficiently. It's about being able to prioritize your tasks and manage your schedule effectively.

Developing both mind and time management skills will give you an advantage to succeed in your competitive environment.

Here are some simple ways you can do that:

Start with your mindset: Your mindset is the foundation for all your actions. If you believe you can't manage your time or your emotions, then you won't be able to. Start by believing that you can develop these skills and take small steps to build your confidence.

For eg. I love saying to myself… “I’m doing this and I’m gonna feel so good when I complete it in 2 hours”

Create a plan: You need a plan to manage your time effectively. Start by making a list of your most important tasks and prioritize them. Bring to your awareness what usually distracts you and create a plan for those as well. Set deadlines for yourself and hold yourself accountable.

For eg. If I easily get distracted by the notices on my phone or my desire to see what’s happening on instagram…I either leave the phone in another room or turn off all notifications for the next 2 hours.

Strategy for Achieving Goals

Use productivity tools: There are many productivity tools available that can help you manage your time more efficiently. Use a calendar or task management app to keep track of your schedule and stay organized. Use mindfulness apps or guided meditations to help you manage your thoughts and emotions.

For eg. I drop all the tasks that I must do in my google calender and colour code them including the check in points for tasks that I’ve delegated.

Taking a Break leads to Success

Take breaks: It's essential to take breaks throughout the day to recharge your batteries. Taking short breaks can help you maintain focus and increase productivity. Use your breaks to do something that relaxes you, such as taking a walk or listening to music.

For eg. I sit at my computer pretty much all day, and becuase of this, I use my breaks to stretch my hips and back and I feel so much more energised when I get back to work.

Practice mindfulness: Mindfulness techniques, such as meditation or deep breathing exercises, can help you manage your thoughts and emotions. Practicing mindfulness regularly can help you stay focused and calm, even in stressful situations.

For eg. I use this to practice noticing any runaway thoughts and bring them back to deliberate thoughts. Thoughts I want to think on purpose.

Developing mind and time management skills can take time and will take practice. Start small and build your skills over time. With persistence and commitment, these learned behaviours can become second nature and help you succeed and achieve your goals.
