Conquer Your Gremlin And Overcome Imposter Syndrome For Good

People Development Consults Imposter Syndrome

“I would be WAY ahead if I didn’t keep talking myself back”!

If this sounds like you, you’re not alone.

Many senior managers and CEO’s experience this phenomenon.

Interestingly, it plagues high performers!

The reason for this is because your current life is so different from your childhood life and it’s difficult for you to believe and accept that you did it!

It’s like… you haven’t caught up with YOU…

It’s called imposter syndrome.

It’s thinking that you are a fraud and finding reasons to explain your success that have nothing to do with your expertise, capabilities, or accomplishments.

Imposter syndrome conjures feelings of guilt, self-doubt, inadequacy and fear.

In a coaching session with one of my CEO’s, she explained that her position was as a result of luck!

Another said she wasn’t suited for her top position because she didn’t know as much as she should, about aspects of the industry she was in.

They report feelings of guilt, self-doubt, inadequacy and fear of being found out.

Find The Culprit or else:

  • You run the risk of being in a constant state of anxiety

  • You can’t enjoy your success

  • You hold yourself back from doing what you really want

The gremlin is that voice inside of you that tells you, in one way or another you are ‘not enough’. Gremlin statement like…

·         “Make sure it’s perfect before submitting the document or else…”

These initial thoughts, left unchecked are often re-cycled and gather more supporting thoughts, such as

  • “They’re going to find out that I’m not as good as they think I am”

  • I may be asked to step down…

After a while, they appear as facts to you.

These statements make it difficult for you to take that next step or achieve goals you set for yourself.

I work with leaders to uncover their limiting beliefs and remove them so they can make GIANT steps forward in their careers and in their lives.

When this happens:

  • They are more conscious

  • They feel more confident

  • They develop more capability

Imposter syndrome can sabotage your professional life.

If this energy-blocking gremlin goes unchecked, it permeates your personal life as well and sets you on the F.A.S.T Track – where you experience feelings of Frustration, Anxiety, Stress and Tiredness.

Some of the ways it shows up…
